Genette is an experienced family solicitor having qualified in 2007, she has worked for firms in North Dorset until July 2025, when she joined Harold G Walker Solicitors. Genette is a member of Resolution. She will support you to try to resolve matters, explaining your options and the legal issues in a jargon-free way. Her specialties are:
- Divorce/dissolution
- Dividing finances after a separation or divorce/dissolution
- Resolving the arrangements for the children after separation
- Pre-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements
If it is not possible to reach an agreement, or an application to court is necessary, Genette will either undertake the advocacy herself (represent you in court) or arrange for a local barrister to represent you.
Genette is a Collaborative Family Lawyer. Collaborative Law is a way of trying to resolve matters in an amicable way in a bid to avoid the need for formal court proceedings. It involves you, Genette, your former partner and their lawyer having meetings together to explore the issues and to try to work towards reaching an agreement. Everyone works together as a team in an amicable, open and honest way to try to reach an agreement.
If appropriate, instead of working for you as a traditional family solicitor or as a Collaborative Lawyer, Genette could work as the sole solicitor for you both. Genette is trained as a Resolution Together solicitor which enables her to act as the sole solicitor for you both. This however, is only suitable for those couples separating whose joint aim is to reach an outcome that meets their needs and if they are parents, the needs of their children. You must be both on the same page. Genette would be able to provide you both with guidance and details of the parameters of what a court might do, but the decision for a division of the assets would have to be down to you both. Genette would need to assess if Resolution Together was right for you both.
Genette divides her time between our Christchurch office and Wimborne office.
Outside of work, Genette enjoys running, paddleboarding and walks in the Dorset Countryside.
