“Good” and “Divorce” within the same sentence may sound strange to some. Good Divorce Week promotes how Members of Resolution can try to help divorcing couples in a constructive and practical way, and to support them to act in the best interests of their children.
Resolution is a community of over 6,500 family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way. Good Divorce Week focuses on Resolution’s Code of Practice and also, showing the value of seeking advice at the earliest possible stage, and how consulting a law firm who is committed to seeking an amicable way forward can help achieve the best results for all parties.
Members of Resolution have signed up to a Code of Practice to agree to:
- Reduce or manage any conflict and confrontation; for example, by not using inflammatory language.
- Support and encourage families to put the best interests of any children first.
- Act with honesty, integrity and objectivity.
- Help clients understand and manage the potential long-term financial and emotional consequences of decisions.
- Listen to and treat everyone with respect and without judgment.
- Use my experience and knowledge to guide clients through the options available to them.
- Continually develop my knowledge and skills.
- Use the Resolution Guides to Good Practice in my day-to-day work.
